It was a picture-perfect summer day for Dawson and Jessica’s wedding at The Broadway Avenue wedding venue, one of the most charming and unique wedding venues in Grand Rapids. With its elegant vibe, The Broadway Avenue set the stage for an unforgettable day filled with love, laughter, and celebration. From the vibrant florals to the heartfelt moments, every detail created a day that Dawson, Jessica, and their guests will remember forever.
The morning began in the bridal suite, where the air was buzzing with excitement. Jessica looked adorable in her white and blue floral robe, matching perfectly with her bridesmaids, who wore sleek navy blue robes. I loved the cohesive look of her bridal party—some bridesmaids wore different shades of blue dresses, while others wore floral patterns that tied in beautifully with the bright summer colors of the wedding flowers. It made for such a fresh and vibrant look!
One of the sweetest moments of the morning was when Jessica gave her mom a beautiful custom family remembrance drawing. The illustration captured three generations—Jessica, her mom, and her grandmother—an incredibly touching and emotional gesture. Afterward, Jessica’s mom helped her into her gorgeous gown.
Jessica shared two very special first looks. The first was with her dad, and the emotions were undeniable as he saw his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. These moments are always meaningful, and Jessica and her dad’s first look was no exception. Then, Jessica met Dawson for their own first look, and their reactions were priceless. First looks are an excellent way to create a quiet, intimate moment between the couple before the day gets busier, and they also allow us to capture more couple photos before the ceremony—saving time later on and giving them more time to enjoy with their guests.
After some gorgeous couple portraits around The Broadway Avenue, it was time for the ceremony. Bright summer florals filled the ceremony space, creating an atmosphere of excitement and happiness. Dawson and Jessica integrated a sand-pouring unity ceremony, symbolizing the blending of their lives. They also added a unique and personal touch: their parents and grandparents blessed the rings, passing them from one to another before Jessica and Dawson exchanged them. This intimate moment of family connection made the ceremony even more unique, and these kinds of moments truly connect us to the couple’s emotional journey.
Once they were officially husband and wife, we whisked the newlyweds off to Riverside Park for some additional couple portraits. The park’s lush greenery and the golden summer sunlight provided the perfect backdrop for these romantic shots. Dawson and Jessica were all smiles, soaking in the day as we captured some of my favorite images from the entire wedding.
As we returned to The Broadway Avenue for the reception, elegant decor greeted the guests, perfectly matching the day’s aesthetic. Crisp white linens dressed the tables, while a soft dusty blue table runner ran down the middle, accented by single flowers in vases and tapered candles, creating a simple yet beautiful atmosphere. The room had a warm, inviting glow as the sun set through the venue’s large windows.
Laughter, heartfelt toasts, and plenty of dancing filled the evening. Before the night was over, we gathered all of the guests together for a group photo with the newlyweds—a fun way to commemorate the celebration with everyone in attendance.
Jessica and Dawson ended the night with a sweet cake cutting and a lively dance floor where everyone celebrated late into the evening. The energy was electric, and it was clear that this was a day filled with so much love.
